Greek mini cheese pies recipe

The Greek mini cheese pies are definitely a well known dish in the Greek culture. They are a traditional staple in all Greek kitchens and always served during festive and traditional celebrations. The mini cheese pies are easy to make and do not require too many ingredients or preparation time. You can make as much as you want and once ready, freeze them. So that you can keep them for a longer period of time.

You can use any type of cheese you have at home, or you can even mix different types together. 

INGREDIENTS:

Mix for the dough:

300ml/1 glass of olive oil (or vegetable oil)

300ml/1 glass of wine 

2 tsp of baking powder

1 tsp salt

½ kg of all purpose flour

In a bowl, add the water, the oil,baking powder and salt. Mix all together and then add the flour slowly. Mix with your hands until everything is blended together. Leave to rise for a few minutes whilst you prepare the filling mix. 

Filling mix:

2 eggs

1 cup of soft cheese (can use any kind cheese)

½ tsp pepper

1 cup of dill

1 finely chopped onion

Add all ingredients in a small bowl and mix until all blended together. 

PREPARATION:

Make small dough balls with your palms, then place them on the table and flatten them;

Add filling to each one with a teaspoon

Turn over one half of each flat dough ball and close it off (use a fork to seal the edges)

Add all on a tray with baking paper and brush each top with milk or egg

Add sesame on top

Bake at 175 C for 30 minutes
